Auction Format

In an auction, the highest bidder is the winner of the item. Auctions are very simple and its fun to bid for the item you like to buy.

Placing a Bid

If you have spotted an item you would like to place a bid on, you can do so quickly and easily by following these steps:

Check the current bid value of the product

Click on the "Bid Now" button

Enter your Maximum Bid value. If your maximum bid amount is set for more than the latest bid, DellAuction.com will automatically bid on your behalf at the lowest possible bid increment until your maximum amount is reached. Click here to learn more about Maximum Bid.

Confirm your bid

NOTE:

You will get a bid confirmation email notification in your registered email mailbox with complete details.

In the event a higher bid is placed on the item you have already bid on, you will receive an outbid email notification informing you that you have been outbid. You then have the option of posting a higher bid on the item listing yourself.

The highest bidder on a given item listing at close of auction will become the Winning Bidder. The Winning Bidder will receive an auction won email notification in their registered email mailbox with complete winning details.

Auctions are automatically extended (Popcorn Bidding) for an additional ten minutes whenever a bid is placed the last ten minutes of the auction closing time. Maximum Bid

What is Maximum Bid?

Maximum Bid is Dell Auction\'s convenient proxy bidding system. The maximum bid amount defaults to the next winning bid amount. Each time you place a bid by entering your maximum bid amount (which is the most you\'re willing to pay for an item); you will be using our Maximum Bid bidding system. Maximum Bid will then bid automatically, on your behalf and at the lowest possible bid increments, until your maximum bid amount is reached. That\'s all there is to it! This pattern continues until another bidder exceeds your maximum bid, or until you win the auction. You will be notified by e-mail each time your maximum bid has been surpassed by another bidder. If you have been outbid, you can return to the site to place a higher maximum bid amount.

Refresh your Browser often

When reviewing an item\'s Bid History after having placed a bid, you should reload or refresh your browser so that it displays the most current bid status information. This is especially important during the final minutes of an auction when you should refresh your browser frequently (every 3 - 5 secs).

Maximum Bid Amount

To use Maximum Bid, you only need to enter your maximum bid amount (the most you are willing to pay) per unit when submitting a bid. If your maximum amount is outbid, you can either place another maximum amount or enter each subsequent bid one at a time. Please note that you can only increase a subsequent maximum or incremental bid. In case of a tie for high bidder, earlier bids will take precedence.

Maximum Bid Amounts during Open and Reserve Price Auctions

With Open Auctions, your maximum bid amount (if you are a current high bidder) will not be shown to other bidders until after the auction closes.

With Reserve Price Auctions, until the hidden reserve price is met on a given auction, all bids submitted below this amount will be placed without proxy bidding. What this means is that if you are the current high bidder and the Reserve Price has not yet been met, your maximum bid amount will be viewable to other bidders as the current auction "Highest Bid" amount. And, while each new bid amount below the reserve sets a new lowest possible bid amount, the stated bid increment will still be added to each new bid placed below the reserve price.

Once the Reserve Price has been met or exceeded, however, your maximum secret bid amount (if you are a current high bidder) will not be shown to other bidders during the auction. Additionally, the reserve price will be indicated automatically on the auction page as the new lowest successful price that the auction will sell at. All additional maximum bid amounts submitted above the reserve price will use proxy bidding.

Lowest Successful Price

The goal when using Maximum Bid is to win an item at the lowest successful price. To do so, you must be the bidder who placed the highest maximum bid at auction close. The lowest successful price may not necessarily be the maximum bid amount you submitted to win the auction, unless there was a tie. Typically, the lowest successful price is the next highest bidder\'s maximum bid amount plus the stated bid increment.

Auto Bid Extend (Popcorn Bidding)

In addition to Maximum Bid, Dell Auction\'s Auto Bid Extend feature ensures that you will always have a chance to challenge bids placed in the final minutes of an auction. When indicated on a listing page, if a bid is placed less then 10 minutes of an Open or Reserve Price Auction closing, the auction will be automatically extended to 10 minutes. The auction will close once all bidding activity has stopped for a period of 10 minutes.

Fixed Price Amount

When available Fixed Price Item is another option where customers can buy directly on Dell Auction without going through the bidding process. Prices are set and determine at the sole discretion of Dell Financial Services.

Click on the "Fixed Price Items" link from the homepage. From the Product Listing Page click on the "Buy Now" button and you will be re-directed to a confirmation page to confirm your order. You will receive an order confirmation email from Dell Auction.
